Jude Slept Thru the Night!

Jude is 8 weeks old today and slept through the night for the first time last night. What a great baby!! We don't expect it to happen again tonight but will hope for the best. Jonah, of course, was up once last night. The newborn sleeps better than the toddler...GOOD GRIEF!

Jude is doing well!

Just wanted to keep everyone posted about Jude. He is doing well. His malacia doesn't seem to be getting worse. He did come down with the cold we all had but is fighting it nicely. The pulmologist saw him on Thursday and was pleased with his breathing. His oxygen saturation is staying at 100% and he is gaining weight as expected. He did say that the next 6 weeks may be very rough, but so far so good. Keep your fingers crossed that he will recover quickly and be a medical miracle. He is already 11 pounds and sleepng pretty well. He's only up once or twice at night.

Jonah's First Golf Adventure

Adam took Jonah on his first golf adventure to a little golf course just outside of town. They had so much fun. Jonah was a perfect angel. Adam didn't stop talking about what a great time they had all weekend. They can't wait to go back on the next warm day.

Pictures from this golf trip and a few others are in the March folder of the photo gallery.

Another Jude Update

Just wanted to keep everyone posted on Jude. There's really no change. His breathing was a little worse than usual last night but nothing to be too concerned about. He's been a little fussier than usual the last few days but I don't think it has anything to do with his breathing. He seems to be addicted to breastfeeding so we're trying to break that bad habit. He sleeps pretty good at night and usually only wakes up once or twice. He has two doctor's appointments this week to monitor his progress. I'll keep everyone posted.

The last couple weeks have been a little rough for Jonah. He's been going through the expected "big brother adjustment." He's been very emotional and has regressed a little with his potty training. The last few days have been great though. He is back on track with his potty training and almost back to the "old" Jonah. Thank goodness!!!

Jude Update

We wanted to let everyone know what is going on with Jude. A few of you may already know about his recent health problems, but many of you may not. Sorry it has taken us so long to communicate this to everyone. Things have been a little crazy. Jude spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Children’s Hospital. This all began with a silly little noise he made that sounded like a goose honking. We actually thought it was cute until we found out what it was caused from. It progressed into a lot of labored breathing. The pediatrician saw him Thursday and thought there was reason for concern and referred us to a pediatric pulmonologist. We never made it to the pulmonologist because Thursday night we ended up in Children’s ER. His breathing problems were getting worse and were keeping him from sleeping. They admitted Jude that night and the next day did a broncoscopy (a camera scope inserted down his throat through his nose). He has been diagnosed with laryngomalacia. Laryngomalacia is caused when part of the larynx doesn’t stand open and flops over, closing the airway (in his case it is closing about 80-90% of the airway at various times of the day). Unfortunately, there is nothing they can do to correct the problem and it is likely to get worse before it gets better. Luckily, he will grow out of it. They estimate that it will be 50% better by the time he is 5 or 6 months old and should be completely gone by one year. Right now we are concentrating on keeping him from getting a cold/flu. The pulmonologist stressed that even a stuffy nose will send us back to the hospital.

Jude is doing well right now. He’s sleeping well and seems to be thriving. He’s already 10 pounds! Jonah is doing great. He’s battling a cold but is enjoying being a big brother.

Let us know if you have any questions about Jude. We’ll keep everyone posted. Feel free to call and check on him or come for a visit, as long as you’re not sickJ
